5 Things to Know About Your Water Pressure

When it comes to needing a plumber in South Florida, countless people have turned to using our services. We have helped many people with all aspects of plumbing, including those that involve water pressure. Many people have concerns about their water pressure, especially if it seems to low or even too high. The more you know about your water pressure, the more comfortable you will be.

There’s an episode of the popular comedy sitcom “Seinfeld,” where the water pressure has went down in Jerry and Kramer’s apartment building. They walk around with their hair flat and they are miserable, wanting the water pressure to come back. Theirs was due to the building manager installing low flow shower heads, but there can be other reasons for people to have a low water pressure. Nobody wants a low shower pressure, so it’s important to ensure that your water pressure is right where it should be.

Here are 5 things to know about your water pressure:

  1. Water pressure matters more than you realize. Most people take it for granted, like most plumbing issues, until there’s a problem. You will notice a problem if the water pressure is coming out to low when you take a shower, for example, so keep in mind that it really does matter.
  2. A home’s water pressure is the amount of force that is being used to bring the water into your home from out at the main line.
  3. Water pressure is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI). A home’s normal water pressure will usually be somewhere between 30 and 80 PSI.
  4. If you have noticed that your water pressure seems to have gotten weaker over the years it may very well be from a buildup in the pipes. If it’s happened quickly then there could be something blocking it that is causing the problem.
  5. Your water pressure can be too low or too high and neither are ideal situations. You want your water pressure to be within a normal range so that your family is comfortable and your pipes are being cared for properly.

What Our A+ Better Business Bureau Rating Means for You

If you are looking for a plumber in South Florida you will have many to choose from, but not all of them will provide you with the kind of customer service you deserve. In fact, one way you can determine the reputation of any plumbing company in the Miami-Dade area is to take a look at their Better Business Bureau rating. We’re proud of our A+ rating and what it means for our customers!

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives us at Mokher Plumbing an A+ rating. While that may sound great, and it is, what exactly does that mean to potential customers who may be reviewing our rating? Here’s what that means:

  • The BBB ratings are an overall assessment of how the organization believes a company will treat its customers. The information is based upon the feedback that they receive from customers who have interacted with the company before. They also take into account any complaints they may have received from customers.
  • To come up with the rating the BBB factors in such areas as the business’s complaint history, type of business, how long they have been in business, how well they honor their commitments, how transparent they are, and how honest they are in advertising.
  • Combining all of this information together, the BBB comes up with a rating, so that potential customers can get third-party trusted information about what type of service they can expect from a business.

What our A+ BBB rating means for those who need expert plumbing services in the Miami-Dade area is that you will get the best service around. We have been providing excellent plumbing services throughout South Florida for over 50 years. We know how to provide great customer service and we are experts when it comes to all things plumbing. Tips to Help You Avoid Holiday Plumbing Problems

During the holiday season there are many people who have gatherings, parties, dinners, and a variety of get-togethers with friends and families. It’s also a time when many people in South Florida and beyond, will have some plumbing problems. If you find yourself with some clogged up drains after a dinner party you are not alone. But the good news is that there are some things you can do to help avoid the problems in the first place.

Here are some things to keep in mind with the holiday season upon us:

  • People have a lot of dinner parties during the holidays. This means more food, which means more opportunity for something to be put down your drain that shouldn’t there. Keeping this in mind can help you be on the lookout.
  • Avoid putting a lot of food down your drain. There are many things that can clog it, and sinks were not designed to be the place for all of your food waste to go. Know what can go down your drain and into your disposal and what shouldn’t go there, and make sure members of your family know as well.
  • When it comes to protecting your sink pipes some of the things you should avoid putting down your disposal include bones, potato peels, and grease. These things can easily get caught in your disposal and lead to a drain backing up.
  • Remind people that it’s not only okay, but it is ideal, to put food waste in the trash can, unless you are someone who is composting. When in doubt about something going into your disposal it is better to throw it out. That way you won’t risk clogging your sink and having a back up.

With more people visiting your home or business for parties and gatherings you may also experience plumbing issues in the restroom. It’s important that people know now to flush things down the toilet that shouldn’t be flushed. That means to also keep an eye on small children who may be visiting, because they sometimes like to throw things in, not realizing it could cause a problem. Address any noticeable toilet issues, such as a rocking toilet, before having guests over, so that it doesn’t become a bigger problem once they are there.

If you find that you have plumbing problems this holiday season give us a call. We have been providing expert plumbing services to the Miami-Dade area for over 50 years. There’s a problem we haven’t seen or that we don’t know how to repair. We are available 24/7 and will help ensure your holiday plans run smoothly!
