- When it comes to protecting your sink pipes some of the things you should avoid putting down your disposal include bones, potato peels, and grease. These things can easily get caught in your disposal and lead to a drain backing up.
- Remind people that it’s not only okay, but it is ideal, to put food waste in the trash can, unless you are someone who is composting. When in doubt about something going into your disposal it is better to throw it out. That way you won’t risk clogging your sink and having a back up.
With more people visiting your home or business for parties and gatherings you may also experience plumbing issues in the restroom. It’s important that people know now to flush things down the toilet that shouldn’t be flushed. That means to also keep an eye on small children who may be visiting, because they sometimes like to throw things in, not realizing it could cause a problem. Address any noticeable toilet issues, such as a rocking toilet, before having guests over, so that it doesn’t become a bigger problem once they are there.
