4 Things Kitchen and Bath Remodeling Can Do for Your Home

Each year there are many homeowners in South Florida who decide to do a kitchen or bath remodeling project. There are many more that consider it, but remain on the fence. They may like the idea, but they never take the leap to make it happen. There are a lot of good reasons to opt for a kitchen and bath remodel in your home, and not a lot of good reasons to skip it. The more you know about the pros, the more you will want to make your remodel project a reality.

Here are 4 things kitchen and bath remodeling can do for your home:

  1. Increase value. People love upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, so if you want to increase the value of your home this is one way to do it. An updated kitchen or bathroom will be especially helpful if you plan on selling it anytime soon.
  2. Add appeal. Not only will a kitchen or bath remodel add to the overall value of the home, but it will add to the appeal, too. Buyers will notice that things have been updated, which will save them remodeling expenses and the time it takes to do it themselves if they decide to buy. If you are not selling, your guests are going to find your home more appealing, too. Upgrades are a great way to make your home look nicer and more inviting.
  3. Make you happy. You are the one living in the home and should be happy with it. It’s time to love your home again, and a nice kitchen or bath remodeling can be just the ticket that helps you get there. Remodeling puts you in control of how you want your home to look and function.
  4. Update materials. Many people have outdated materials that their home was built with. When you do a remodel you can replace those materials. This can make things safer and more durable.

Remodeling your kitchen or bath, whether you live in the Miami area or beyond, is a great way to add value to your home, as well as make it more comfortable to live in. It’s always a wise decision to work with a professional plumber to ensure your plumbing is held to the highest standards. Not only do you want to know that everything looks good, but that it was installed correctly and you can count on it to function properly for the long haul.

5 Things That Can Clog Your Drains (and What to Do About it)

Whether you live in South Florida or somewhere else, there is a good chance that at one time or another you have had clogged drains. It’s something that just about everyone has experienced, and it can be quite frustrating. We tend to take our drains for granted when everything is draining just fine, but once we do something that may lead to a problem we are reminded of just what a problem clogged drains can be. The good news is that you can help prevent clogged drains in your home or office by knowing what helps create them!

In the areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, here are some of the most common things that end up clogging drains:

  • We love them, but kids can be culprits when it comes to clogged drains. Their curiosity can have them put things in the toilet that don’t exactly belong there. Toys, brushes, cups, and more may be flushed by unsuspecting curious children, which can lead to clogged drains.
  • People are using wipes in record numbers today and often flushing them. Most say right on the packaging that they are not be flushed because they can cause clogs. Put a few of these things down the drain and you may see a backup begin sooner or later that can’t simply be wiped away. If you use wipes, dispose of them in the trash, not in the toilet.
  • In the shower, it falls from our head, at the sink we have a lot of when we shave. All that hair can create an ugly mess in the pipes that lead to clogs, especially when mixed with soap scum. Aim to keep your drain free of hair as much as possible.
  • Some people are tempted to put grease down the sink, but even with having a garbage disposal you may be setting yourself up for a clog situation. It’s better to put the grease into the trash than down the drain, just to be on the safe side.
  • Potato skins. While they seem innocent enough, these tough skins can lead to a clogged drain. Get too many of them down there at once and even the garbage disposal has a difficult time and can get stopped up. Instead of down the drain, toss them in your compost or trash.

What you should do about clogged drains is to aim for prevention first and foremost. Teach everyone in the house to not put things down the drain that commonly cause clogs. However, that doesn’t mean you will be able to avoid ever having any problems. Both residential and commercial properties in South Florida routinely get clogged drains.

While some store-bought drain cleaners may be able to help, often times the problem requires the assistance of a professional plumber to address the issue. You may find that you have clogged drains if yours is draining slowly, gurgling, having unpleasant odors, or there are other noticeable problems.

Call us today with any questions you have about your clogged drains. We’re here to help South Florida with their clogged drain problems!
